Unfortunately I have discovered that the large increase in the numbers of users was not a result of a sudden interest in the forum – it was in fact a web crawler.
The somersoft.com forum is currently being indexed by the inktomi bots – they are crawling our forum, following every link and indexing every page so that they can be searched by web search engines.
Yahoo and Google both use the inktomi indexes, so I would hope that sometime in the near future you will be able to use Google to effectively search the forum. This means 2 and 3 letter words should be easier to search for !!
I’m annoyed at the blow-out in the user count because of the crawlers though.
