Perth’s Central Area Transport (CAT) system is a perfect example of a simple but extremely effective free public transport system for the inner city area. Two bus routes, one basically east-west across the CBD area and the other north-south, with a third extending out to some of the newer development areas just out of the city.
Cheap (free !), clean, reliable (well, as reliable as a bus service can be), mobile – wheelchair access buses !
Many other cities could learn a lot from this great service Perth puts on.
