Age of Empires III on the weekend. About the only games I play these days (if I ever find time) are Real Time Strategy games. I loved Age of Empires II, so I was looking forward to playing III.
The graphics in this new version are stunning, but since I’m playing on my laptop (so I can play while waiting for a plane at the airport or when stuck in a hotel room) – I’ve had to lower the detaily slightly to get the performance acceptable. It’s still excellent quality graphics though.
I’m working my way through the campaigns now, and I’ve found the gameplay a little easy – almost boringly so at times. So either I’m getting really good at these games (unlikely), or they are becoming easier to play. I found the same kind of thing with later versions of Command & Conquer. Perhaps when I get into skirmish mode against the computer I can start to have some tougher challenges.
Either way, a worthy addition to the Age of Empires family.
