Still alive

Tuesday 22nd November, 2005 Leave a Comment

I’m still alive – mostly.

Last couple of weeks have been pretty horrendous.

Trip to NZ 3 weeks back to present at some seminars for work, not terribly taxing (although I never sleep well the first couple of nights in NZ because of the 2 hour time difference), but I didn’t get much of anything else done that I wanted.

Then I had a week off to work on my last uni assignment for the semester/year … lots of hard work cramming 6 weeks of research/reading/writing into 5 days, but I got it done and I think it was okay (haven’t got it back yet, so don’t know whether the lecturer agrees with my assessment there yet !!)

Then last week I did another couple of seminars, again, not too taxing, but for some reason I had a lot of trouble getting other stuff done after hours like I normally do.

So I managed to get myself fairly motivated over the weekend to catch up on a heap of stuff – administrative mostly – that has been building up over the last 3 months since I’ve been pretty much ignoring everything except work, study, and InvestEd.

I’m now mostly caught up with my filing and bookkeeping (that was the worst part !), sorted out a lot of bank stuff that has been annoying me for a while, got my tax mostly up to date, and have made an appointment with my accountant to go through it next week, finished editing and published another article for InvestEd, got some more expense claims done for work, got some done for InvestEd too, got the books for InvestEd mostly up to date in time for our recent board meeting, put some reports together on our progress so far for our Invested board members, totally rebuilt my filing system – I’m going completely electronic – scanning all documents and storing the originals in no particular order in empty boxes that the reams of printer paper come in (enough for around 2500 pages !) … much more effective. There’s been a heap of work stuff that I needed to follow up on too – admin mostly, but I think it’s mostly under control now.

I’ve been so busy of late, I’ve even been ignoring friends and family to a degree (although I remembered by Dad’s birthday last week which was good). I’m really hoping now that I’m pretty much caught up, that I can get on with some of the other stuff I’ve ignored that’s been bugging me for ages.

There’s some potentially really exciting stuff happening soon that I’ll be able to tell everyone about – of course it means more work, but should make things interesting.
