SWIC and Lotus

Tuesday 8th June, 2004 Leave a Comment

Just realised that I never did blog about the changes that happened in my work at the beginning of this year …

In my entry It’s a living back in July last year, I introduced my role in IBM as part of the WIC team.

Well, this year as part of the Software Group transformation, they made our channels enablement team a cross-brand team, and renamed us the SWIC (Software Innovation Centre). Not to be confused with any of the other “innovation centres” out there in IBM.

What’s more, the entire WebSphere Portal team across the organisation moved to the Lotus Brand. So from the beginning of this year, I am Lotus headcount working with WebSphere Portal in the cross-brand SWIC team doing technical enablement for our channels organisation – business partners.

Essentially, nothing has changed since last year, except I have a new management structure above me and my business cards now have a yellow logo rather than the purple one I had last year.

It’s all rather ironic really given I started my IT career as a Notes developer back at R4.0 (pre-Domino days !) … after working for 3 Lotus/IBM business partners moving from Lotus Notes to MQSeries (now WebSphere MQ) to WebSphere Application Server and then being employed by IBM and moving to WebSphere Portal, I am now working for Lotus. Kindof a roundabout world we live in ! Especially when you consider what I wrote in my entry The ever shrinking world of IT.
