I sometimes find that walking is excellent thinking time providing the environment one is walking through is not too stimulating. I can easily get distracted by the birds and wildlife I am seeing on my walks, for example. The best and most intense debates I've had have been with myself during long walks. The act of walking stimulates my brain into thinking mode.
