We flew back home to Adelaide for a few days to see our parents – my parents had not yet seen Andres except on Skype video calls.
We spent one of the days with my parents at Monarto Zoo – one of my favourite zoos.

The Adelaide Rosella is interesting. Normally they are a washed out orange on the front but this one seems deeper red than normal, closer to the nominate species, the Crimson Rosella.
The Adelaide Rosella is a hybrid sub species of the Crimson and there are many colour variations throughout the Adelaide and mid north regions.
It was late in the day and so the light may have been affecting the colour – I’m not sure it really was that deep.
