Banner Photo

Thought I might just explain the photo I’ve used as the banner at the top of my blog.

It is a photo I took back in January 2000 of a sunrise over outback Australia as seen from a 747 jet flying from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Sydney.

It was on the return leg of my first overseas trip for a work conference back when I was working for Candle Corp.

The full (non-cropped) version of the photo also shows the leading edge of the plane’s wing sweeping back, with the pre-dawn light reflecting off it - adds another dimension to the photo, but unfortunately I didn’t have enough space to include that part of the shot as well.

The colours were spectacular - and I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying quite a few more such sunrises in the years since that first OS flight.
